Over The Hill Cake

I recently made this cake for a friend, who's husband was turning 40. I got the spinner idea from a cake I saw online. It turned out pretty cute. I think it's time I took some real classes so I can figure out how to get the super smooth look. My cakes always have bumps and uneven spots. If you know the answers I welcome your comments.

I love it. I cannot see any imperfections from my perspective.

Very cool cake. If you want smooth fondant Clarissa told me to buy a fondant smoother which they sell at Michael's. If you want smooth frosting do not use the stuff from the store make your own (Wilton has a good recipe that I use all the time) lay it on thick, and use a long frosting spatula to smooth the top and a short one for the sides. Many times grocery stores sell frosting from the bakery department and they can give you tips too.
